Get borrowing, get involved + come to the Launch Party! If you don’t know what we’re talking about, here’s a re-cap. Last year, we joined forces with Crystal Palace Transition Town and Library of Things and successfully crowdfunded to build a Library of Things within the Upper Norwood Library Hub. The Crystal Palace Library of Things will be a place where you can borrow useful Things, like drills, gazebos and carpet cleaners at affordable prices, and learn how to use them.
You may have noticed shelving and storage appearing at the front of the library and now we’re days away from the soft launch. From 10am on Saturday 21st April, you’ll be able to borrow wonderfully useful Things. Until then, click here to browse all the items that will be available for borrowing, and then sign up to borrow.
A date for the diary: join us on May 5th for the CPLoT Launch Party! Whether you’re a member or not, you’re invited to come along and celebrate the launch of this incredibly exciting project. We’re so grateful to the local community for the support this project has received and we want to thank you. Everyone is welcome – feel free to bring your friends, family, neighbours, colleagues or anyone you think might be interested in Library of Things. RSVP here or just come along!
From 1pm-4pm: The Party! Expect a delectable spread of cakes and finger food, local beers & soft drinks, mini skills stalls with live repairs, ‘Thing Demos’ and more! Face-painting, a chance to sign up and get your Early Bird Library of Things membership and a few extra surprises…
At 2pm: The Grand Ceremony. Come for the refreshments, stay for the cutting of purple ribbon – with the shears! We’ll be thanking all the crowdfunders, local people & partners involved so far, taking a mass group photo in front of Library of Things and staging a ‘Wild Thing’ singalong – with Crystal Palace Transition Town Choir.
