Some of the best comics on the open mic circuit perform in the library! This month’s fantastic lineup:
Kazeem Jamal: Kazeem has burst on to the comedy scene, with the confidence and stage charisma of acts who have been in the business for decades, Kazeem is proving himself to be a fine addition to the comedy circuit. A regular on the London comedy scene, he hosts around the city at a number of comedy nights as well as hosting his own shows in and around London” – Top Secret Comedy Club
Simon Weekes: Simon Weekes is not an interesting person, so he’s making up for it by being a laughable one. Having written for Charlie Brooker, Richard Ayoade and Richard Osman, this time he’s taking some of the glory for himself.
Patrick Healy: Patrick Healy is an old soul in a young man’s body. Relaxed, conversational, and slightly bizarre, in the way that so many old men are, he has been praised by the London Evening Standard for his “idiosyncratic worldview”, and is a regular face at some of the UK’s top clubs.
In 2018 Patrick reached the finals of the prestigious So You Think You’re Funny competition at the Edinburgh Fringe, before going on to be crowned Yellow Comedy Young Comedian of the Year in December 2018.
Bennet Kavanagh – Bennet has 20 years of piano-playing experience and has been performing musical comedy for 3 years. He was a Musical Comedy Awards Finliast in 2018, a Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year Finalist in 2017 and achieved 2nd place in the Phoenix Artist Club Cabaret Awards in 2018. He performs at clubs across the country – including Up the Creek, the Leicester Square Theatre and the London and Manchester Comedy Stores – supporting acts such as Phil Wang, Zoe Lyons and Simon Evans.
Josh Massen: Josh Massen is a Cambridgeshire born comic who is now based in London. Since taking to the stage for the first time in 2016 he has entertained audiences all over the country with his combination of one-liners and offbeat anecdotes.
Our fabulous headliner, Maria Shehata is an award-winning comedian featured on BBC, Channel 5, Comedy Central, Showtime, and Comic Relief. She is winner of Best Comedian at the Hollywood Festival of New Cinema, and Best Comedy at the Miami Web Fest where she was nominated for Best Actress, shortlisted as one of the Five Best New Performers at the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe by The 99 Club and Pick of the Fringe 2019. Her writing has been published in the New York Times.
