22ND, 23RD & 24TH JULY 2019 : WRITE YOUR OWN MYTH 9+

Children love mythical stories because the characters are generally extraordinary and have super-powers. We show them how to create their own mythical creature and think of a hero(one)’s talisman which could fend off the forces of evil. Their stories may contain an axiom or moral which, they will think up themselves.

12TH TO 16TH AUGUST 2019 : BEING A WORD DETECTIVE 10+

We show the group how to read between the lines and understand a selection of short texts from classic literature. They will be drawing the characters, writing their own extremely long sentences and poems – all in an effort to engage them in poetry and prose, which may seem difficult at first. (We didn’t want to call this a comprehension course for obvious reasons!)

27TH, 28TH & 29TH AUGUST 2019 : WRITE AND READ OUT 7+

This course will show the group how to write a story and read it out with dramatic impact. Sharing their work with the group is a confidence-building exercise in itself but we will show how to make the most of holding centre stage.

Suitable for 7+
