UNLH Presents: ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’

Celebrating 25 years since its original cinematic release, the Upper Norwood Library Hub will be screening ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ a stop-motion animated, musical, dark fantasy film directed by Henry Selick, and produced and conceived by Tim Burton.

‘The film follows the misadventures of Jack Skellington, Halloweentown’s beloved pumpkin king, who has become bored with the same annual routine of frightening people in the “real world.” When Jack accidentally stumbles on Christmastown, all bright colors and warm spirits, he gets a new lease on life — he plots to bring Christmas under his control by kidnapping Santa Claus and taking over the role. But Jack soon discovers even the best-laid plans of mice and skeleton men can go seriously awry.

‘This beautifully realised confection will delight grown-ups of all ages.’ ~Timeout

‘The Nightmare Before Christmas has something to offer just about everyone. For the kids, it’s a fantasy celebrating two holidays. For the adults, it’s an opportunity to experience some light entertainment while marvelling at how adept Hollywood has become at these techniques. ~ReelViews- James Berardinelli
