CROYDON LIVE @ the Upper Norwood Library Hub

The Upper Norwood Library Hub (UNLH) and JLA productions are delighted to announce the
arrival of Croydon Live a series of family friendly performances at UNLH streamed LIVE
into homes for families and friends to enjoy. This project has been made possible through
funding from the Croydon Cultural Relief Fund (Croydon Council) and is a showcase for
Croydon’s vibrant cultural scene embracing the wealth and diversity of our creative talent.

We will be broadcasting 6 performances from the Burgundy room at UNLH, performed to a
socially distanced audience. If you want to be a part of this then here’s what we’re looking
for:

Writers!
We’re looking for three Croydon based writers or playwrights to write 3 brand new pieces of
family friendly theatre
to be commissioned by UNLH and produced by JLA Productions.
Pieces need to be innovative and help us to build and diversify our audience whilst
enhancing their cultural and creative experience.

If you wish to be considered for a commission please send a proposal for the play you would
like to write, some information about you and your work and why you would like to be
involved in this project to: info@jlaproductions.co.uk. There will be a writer’s fee for each
piece.

Companies!
We’re also looking for 3 pieces of family friendly theatre from existing Croydon based
companies.

If you’re a Croydon based theatre company and think you have a show, or an idea for a
show that you think would work in this project then please send details over to:
info@jlaproductions.co.uk. There will be a company fee for each piece.

Each piece may be around 45 minutes and must be suitable for a family audience. If it is
an existing piece, it may be adapted down to fit the time frame. If it is designed for a
particular age range please indicate this when applying.

The pieces can be original or adapted from existing work, they could reflect our changed
world, lockdown and social distancing, acknowledging how we have all had to adjust.

Each piece must be by writers or companies based in the London Borough of Croydon.

We will be sending out information again in the near future when we’re looking for Directors
and Actors for the newly commissioned projects. So watch this space or visit
www.jlaproductions.co.uk to join our mailing list and be kept informed.
